History of Assam teas
Assam is the largest tea region in India and the birthplace of the Assam variety. In the 19th century, the British discovered wild tea plants in the Assam jungles, which led to industrial tea cultivation in colonial India. Assam tea became the foundation for classic English blends. The Doomni estate is one of the well-known plantations in Assam, preserving traditional cultivation and hand-processing methods to this day.
