Matcha is a unique Japanese powdered green tea with over a thousand years of history. Today, you can buy matcha not only in Japan but also in Ukraine — in our “Miy Chay” store. We offer ceremonial matcha, culinary-grade matcha, blue matcha from butterfly pea, rose petal matcha, fruit powders, and even pu-erh matcha powder — a modern interpretation of Cha Gao resin.
History of Matcha
Matcha tea originated in China, but flourished in Japan. In the 12th century, Zen monks brought powdered tea-making techniques from China. In Japan, it became part of spiritual practice, helping maintain focus during meditation. The well-known Japanese tea ceremony was born here.
Production Process

Japanese matcha is made from specially grown green tea leaves called tencha. Several weeks before harvest, the bushes are shaded to boost chlorophyll, amino acids, and antioxidants. The leaves are picked, dried, and stone-milled into a fine powder. This gives matcha its intense flavor, deep aroma, and health benefits.
Types of Matcha
- Ceremonial matcha — used for traditional preparation with a bamboo whisk (chasen).
- Culinary matcha — ideal for desserts, baking, lattes, and smoothies.
- Organic matcha — grown without chemicals for a purer taste.
- Blue matcha (butterfly pea) — made from Clitoria flowers, with a floral aroma and vibrant blue color.
- Fruit or floral powders — made from rose petals, berries, or fruits. Great for drinks, pastries, or as natural coloring.

1. Culinary Grade
Used in food — smoothies, baked goods, desserts. Has a brighter color and stronger bitterness.

Health Benefits
Matcha is a powerful antioxidant source. It enhances focus, reduces stress via L-theanine, gives calm energy, and supports heart and gut health. It's also popular for weight management, as it boosts metabolism.
How to Brew Matcha

Whisk 1–2 g of powder with a small amount of hot (not boiling) water until frothy. Ideal water temperature: 70–75°C. Use a bamboo whisk (chasen). Modern methods include matcha latte, smoothies, or even sauces.
