Description
The village of Lao Ban Zhang, with a population of about 100 families, is famous throughout the world for the cultivation and production of one of the best «puer», named after its place of origin. This is the northeast of the Bu Lan Shan mountain range, located at an altitude of just over 1,700 meters above sea level.
Until recently, the village was poor and unremarkable, until about 10 years ago, one of the Chinese tea factories produced pu-erh tea, created from leaves collected from local old trees. The most valuable are 800 years old. Tea in a short time has become very popular and in demand, having won millions of fans.
Why is this variety so good? Juicy and large leaves with a rich aroma growing on the tops of trees have no bitterness, so the taste of the drink turns out to be very soft, turning into a sweet aftertaste. Experts believe that this is due to the warm and humid climate, which promotes the active growth of large leaves and the absence of bitterness.
For more than 6 months, the village has been shrouded in thick fogs, which has a positive effect on distinct aromatic manifestations, dominated by sweet fruity notes.
In this area, there is never a dryness, the temperature does not rise above 28 degrees, and regular fogs and rains guarantee high quality tea.
After collecting the leaves, the raw material is dried in the sun and placed in special bays, abundantly flooded with water, and thus dried in an atmosphere of high humidity. Thanks to this, fermentation is achieved, the leaf is aged, saturated with the characteristic velvety aroma of warm earth.
The infusion is dark, thick, ranging from bright red to burgundy-cognac.
The taste is honey, sweetish, soft, «intoxicating».
The aroma contains notes of dried pear and dried dates.
The aftertaste is long, viscous, strong, sweetish.
