Emei Xue Ya (Snow Bud) Green Tea

Emei Xue Ya (峨眉雪芽), or Emei Snow Bud, is a rare, premium green tea grown on the famous Mount Emei in Sichuan Province. The tea is harvested very early in the spring, when the first tender buds appear, covered in a fine silvery fluff resembling snow frost - hence the name "Snow Bud".

The taste of Emei Xue Ya is refined, delicate, with light floral and herbal nuances, a soft nuttiness and a long sweet aftertaste. The aroma is fresh, spring-like, with hints of wildflowers and green shoots. The infusion is transparent green, light, refreshing.

How to brew Emei Xue Ya:

Classical Chinese method:

1. Take 4–5 g of tea per 100–120 ml of gaiwan.
2. Water temperature is 80–85°C.
3. Rinse the tea with a quick rinse (3–5 seconds).
4. Brew in short bursts of 10–20 seconds, up to 5–7 times.

Zhongtou Method (中投):

1. Put the tea in a tall glass.
2. Pour half the water (80–85°C), wait until the buds open.
3. Add the other half of the water and enjoy the light, multifaceted taste.
